Nest Temperature Sensor - Home automation starters/actions

Is it possible to use a Nest Temperature Sensor as a home automation "Starter"? If not are there any plans to add support for this?

I have an isolated room that I would like to add a sensor into so that an electric space heater can be automated on and off.
