Nest Thermostat 2nd G can't get entry code

UncleNoah

there was a lengthy power outage in my neighborhood about 3 days ago, and after, my 2nd Gen Nest Learning Thermostat was unavailable in my iOS Nest app. I verified my wifi is up and working, and did a full factory reset on my thermostat. Battery has plenty of volts, thermostat shows connection to the wifi network, but when i get to the Entry Key step in the App section, it sits for a long time on the screen saying it's getting an entry key, and then shows a screen that says, "There was a problem connecting to the service. Try again later." I can't seem to find any way to get the entry key. Any help is greatly appreciated, as I really enjoyed being able to control my thermostat from my phone, and would like to be able to do so again!

Hi UncleNoah,

Thanks for posting. I'm sorry to hear about the situation that you are experiencing trying to get the entry key from your Nest Learning Thermostat 2nd Gen. But don't worry; let's try to get it another way. In this case, please take the thermostat from the base and take a look on the back of the display; you will see a 7-character key. Enter this on the Nest app and follow the instructions on the app.

Please let me know how this goes. I'll be waiting for your response.

Best regards

Jenny
