Nest Thermostat 3rd Generation

I have a Nest 3rd generation installed in my home. it is in my husbands name but he has died. 

how do I change the account to my name? His email will soon no longer be available and his phone is no longer in use.

I have set the app up on my phone. Do I now need to do a factory reset. How do i do this?

Are you able to log into his account?

If you can then you can follow this procedure.

 

Remove a product from your account
  1. Sign in to the Nest app.
  2. If you have another home, on the app home screen, tap Menu . ...
  3. On the app home screen, tap Settings.
  4. Tap the product you'd like to remove.
  5. Scroll down and select Remove [product name].
  6. You'll then be asked to confirm your choice.
  7. Factory reset your Nest product.

 

Once you have done that you can then add it to your account.

Thanks for your reply. I cant sign into his account as I don't now have his password! I do have the Google nest app downloaded and set up on my mobile phone ready to go!
