Nest Thermostat App-

RealtorPonting
Community Member

Good Morning:

A few days ago the Nest App on my iphone was working and I was able to view all sensors installed as well as a live feed from my nest doorbell. Now when I access the app  all I see is the Nest screen displaying my Home Icon showing weather conditions. Is it possible Google for my account, has discontinued the app?  I'm able to access the doorbell camera and the Nest thermostat via Google Home. Not sure about our Nest smoke/CO2 alarm.

Tnks for any help.

Hello RealtorPonting,

I'm sorry to hear that you lost access to your Nest account in the Nest app. I'd be happy to take a look at this for you.

It appears that you might have logged out accidentally and signed in on the wrong account. Make sure that you are signed in with the right email address associated with your Google Nest devices. You can try signing in with other email accounts you have that might be linked to them. If so, check for available home structures where they are connected.

Let us know how it goes.

Regards,
Mark

Hey there,

I don't want to be a nudge, but I'd like to check if you were able to logged in successfully. Feel free to reach back if you still need help.

Thanks,
Mark

Hi Mark: Thank you for your assistance. I contacted the Google nest support. Here is their solution.

Hello Ian,

Thanks for reaching out to the Google Nest Customer Care Team.

We're very sorry for the inconvenience that it caused you. For future reference, you can check these steps on how to manually deactivate the device.

  • Unplug the camera(s).
  • Wait at least 48 hours (2 days).
  • Before the pairing process, change the Wi-Fi network SSID.

Important: These steps disconnect any devices that are currently connected to the Wi-Fi network.

  • Plug the cameras back into a power outlet and connect them to the account using the new Wi-Fi network SSID.
  • Once they're paired, change the Wi-Fi network SSID back to the original SSID.
  • Use the Nest app to update the camera's Wi-Fi settings to reflect the original SSID.

If you still need any assistance please let us know. We will be happy to help in any way we are able.

However I couldn't log on to IP's modem, I had their service group (Rogers Canada) come  by and check out the Arris modem. It was replaced and and as a result I had to reconnect all my devices, plugs, phones and computers. The only three that that wouldn't connect are my Nest thermostat, Nest Protect and Nest doorbell. Still looking for a solution.

Tnks

Ian

Hi Ian,

Thanks for letting me know that you reached out to our team. If you were able to configure your router settings, try disconnecting your Google Nest devices by resetting them to default so they can establish themselves on the new network. Here's the catch: add your Nest Protect first before adding your Nest Thermostat and Nest Hello Doorbell.

Keep me posted if it works.

Regards,

Mark
