About three days ago I received a notice on my phone that the Nest temperature sensor was offline, so first thing I do is check connectivity - zero. I then pull the battery and check it, and it is completely dead - no charge at all, which seemed odd, but off to the store the next day to buy two brand new ones.
Come home, put in the battery - instantly connects. About 28 hours later I get the offline notification again and immediately check the battery - completely dead...again. Put in the remaining new battery, immediately connects, but again, about 26 hours later the brand new battery is dead.
Now, prior to all of this, the unit had been working for over three years without a single battery change and there was never a report of the battery being low, so we're talking sudden failure. I'm of the mind that perhaps Google pushed a firmware update that is causing the issue, or the device has simply gone bad at this point, but looking to see if anyone has any suggestions OTHER than what the help section already recommends, as:
A) The battery was already removed from the unit for over 20 hours before inserting a new one
B) I moved the unit closer to the Nest Thermostat, even though the distance had NEVER been an issue before
C) The only temperature fluctuations happens between when the unit works and after it fails

Hi @Dramon,
I appreciate you taking the time to post in the community. I'm sorry to hear that you are having issues with your Nest Temperature Sensor and it is draining its battery; I'll be more than glad to assist you. Before we continue, I have some questions:
How old is your Nest Temperature sensor device?
Are you using the recommended batteries (CR2 lithium batteries)?
I’ll be waiting for your reply.
Regards,
Derick.
