Not really sure of the model it is the most basic, I installed it about 4 years ago and there was no "c" wire at that time on my old thermostat, however the wire was available not used. So a year ago I hooked the c-wire up but never reconfigured the wiring so I think the thermostat does not know the wire is connected now. How do I go back in and say I have 5 wires not 4 wires connected

Hi, @mrelmo,
Thank you so much for your prompt response. I’m happy to assist you further.
To provide accurate instructions, I'll need the specific model of your thermostat, as the setup process can vary slightly. Once I know the model, I can guide you through the steps to reconfigure the setup and add the C wire. You can find your thermostat's model in this article: How to tell which Nest thermostat you have.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Best regards,
Ana

OK I don't have a picture of original wiring, but here is the current wiring diagram, all I did was add the"C" wire but did not change it in the device as in telling the device that there are now 5 wires. Hmmm I don't have permission to upload files

Hi, @mrelmo,
Thank you for your prompt response and the information you provided. I'm happy to assist you further.
To add the C wire during the setup process, I recommend performing a factory reset on your Nest Thermostat and setting it up again. During setup, you'll see the option to select the wires; please choose them in the following order: W/W1, Y/Y1, G/G1, R, and C.
Please let me know how it goes.
Best regards,
Ana
