My thermostat batteries keep dying. I have a C wire connected and voltage is being supplied to it. When I unplug the thermostat from the wall plate the nest displays a (no power) message, so I know it is getting power. The AAA alkaline batteries are new each time I replace them. I get about a month of use from them and then a get the message on the app and thermostat (low battery). I didn't have this problem before and its been a year since it was installed. I'm on my 3rd set of batteries now. Nest is set to only display only when we walk up to it.

Daniel,
Thank you for for trying to help me with this. I have discontinued use of the Google Nest. It has be a frustrating experience. I bought this product thinking I was going to have a quality thermostat. It was the 4th generation, so surely all the bugs must be gone by now. It looked sharp and I could control it with my phone, and that was cool. I spent a lot of time installing it. I ran the new 5 wire (for the C wire), drywall work and painting the wall to make it look professional. I installed it in the summer, and right off noticed the A/C would come on very frequently. This was something I had not noticed before with the old (dumb) thermostat. I could not change the cycles as I could not find any setting anywhere for this. Strangely enough, I did not have the cycling problem when I used the heat this winter. If you know anything about A/C units, the more they cycle the faster they will fail. Now with the battery low power issue I was finally done with the Nest. I did checked every thing I could. 24v power was going to the Nest, and it was wired correctly. I bought a new Emerson smart wifi thermostat, and right off I noticed a big difference over the Nest. I have a lot more control over cycles and no batteries to fool with. It does what the Nest should have been doing. I do like the sleek look of the Nest better, but it does not function well. I am a very handy guy and do not give up easily. There was nothing wrong with my installation as I used the same wires for the new thermostat. I thank you for you attempt to help me. I'm doing good now and my Nest in sitting here in front of me wondering where I'm going to toss it. Total waste of money.
