Nest Thermostat initial set up without WIFI (manual only)

I need to replace my nest thermostat at my second home, and cannot be there to set it up. (My brother is going to install it for me.) Does it have to be set up initially with the app, or can it just be installed and set to "manual" operation? (I realize I won't be able to use it as a "smart thermostat" until I'm there to connect it to my phone/the app.) Thanks!

Thanks for posting.

Yes you can have your brother set it up and use it manually. Ask him to skip the thermostat display's prompt to set up on the app and skip the Wi-Fi connectivity as well.
