Nest Thermostat thinks its 0 degrees all the time

Ruth157

My Nest Learning thermostat is constantly showing the actual temperature as 0 degrees. So whenever its switched on it heats the house like mad and never stops.

I have tried restarting it and also a factory reset and the problem persists. I am assuming the internal temp sensor is broken or possibly a software issue.  Can anyone help me with suggestions of things to try or advise how I can get in touch with Nest if this is a technical issue.

Hey @Ruth157,

  • Thank you for reaching out! I'm sorry to hear about this issue, but I'll do my best to help you fix it.
  • Can you first tell me what kind of thermostat do you have?
  • What country are you based in?
  • Also, when did this issue start? Were there any power cuts in your area?
  • Have you recently had service or maintenance on your electrical, plumbing, or heating system?
