Hi samuelsinel,
Yikes! I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing an issue where the zone circulator continues to run even when the zone valve is closed, there may be a problem with the wiring or configuration of your system. Could you send us a photo of your previous thermostat wiring configuration so we can take a closer look? Also, here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot:
- Ensure that all the wiring connections between the Nest Thermostat, Taco SR 501 Zone Switching Relay, and Taco 571 Zone Valve are correct and secure. Make sure the wiring matches the recommended setup for your specific equipment.
- Confirm that the Nest Power Connector is providing power to the Taco SR 501 Zone Switching Relay as intended. Ensure that the power supply is correctly connected and delivering the appropriate voltage of 24 V.
- Test the zone valve independently to ensure it operates correctly and that it opens and closes properly when commanded by the Taco SR 501 Zone Switching Relay.
- To test the circulator, disconnect the wiring between the zone valve and the circulator to isolate it from the system. Power on the system and check if the circulator continues to run. If it still runs, it may require further inspection or replacement.
- Double-check your Nest Thermostat's settings on your Home app to ensure they are correctly configured for your heating system, specifically a hot water boiler system, and that the zone control settings are correctly adjusted.
Let us know how it goes.
Best,
Zoe
