Nest Thermostat

We currently have a nest thermostat set up in our FL residence while we are away.  We live in WI.  We installed the unit just before we left in April.  We always have wifi connectivity issues but lately, even after having a low battery notice in May and we had a neighbor change out the batteries.  We are now getting low battery message again after just one month from changing batteries.  We live in WI so we are not at unit to be able to check.  Not sure what I'm looking for to check this unit remotely on my phone.  Not sure why battery we be low after only one month.  And the wifi issue is still happening.

Hello WIPenny,

I'm sorry to hear that you're having an issue with your Nest Thermostat getting low on battery. I'd be happy to take a look at this for you.

The thermostat's installation or wire setup is incorrect, the Wi-Fi connection is unstable, router settings are incompatible with the Nest Thermostat, the connection between the thermostat and the your router has interference, or any power-related issues are some of the possible causes why it's draining the batteries fast.

Did you replace it with the suggested batteries? Do you see any power reports in the app? Whenever you have a chance or someone to be with your thermostat, please check out these details:

  1. Power Info in the Equipment Settings
  2. Check for any power reports.
  3. Remove the thermostat display from its base and check if any connector pins are bent.
  4. Ensure that the wires are connected properly.
  5. Disconnect the Wi-Fi for 24 hours to confirm that it's a Wi-Fi issue and/or not a battery issue.

Keep me posted.

Regards,
Mark
