Nest Thermostat

Yesterday our power went out for 12 hours. It went back on at 3 am. Today it was 96 degrees, so of course our Nest thermostat doest work to control the AC after the power outage. The wiring hasn't changed, the AC unit is less than 2 years old, the filter isn't dirty, the breakers are good. We have tried restarting the Nest, restarting our internet, the AC is kicking on, it's just not cooling down the house. It's 84 inside, we set it to 75 and it says 2hrs. Why is it always the hottest/coldest day of the year when the Nest Thermostat decides to quit?  Anyone know how to get this to work properly?

Hi @Tfry23,

I hope you are well, and thank you for posting on our community page, I apologize for the inconvenience that you are getting. Thanks for your effort in trying to fix the issue.

Let me walk you through some steps.

Power to Nest Thermostat:

  • Ensure the Nest thermostat is receiving power. Check if the display is on and if it responds to touches.
  • If it's battery-powered, ensure the batteries have enough charge.

Nest App Connectivity:

  • Verify your Nest thermostat is connected to your Wi-Fi network through the Nest app.
  • Sometimes a power outage can disrupt the connection.

Nest Schedule:

  • Double-check that your Nest thermostat isn't stuck in an "Away" mode or following an old schedule that doesn't reflect your current cooling needs.

Also I would like to ask you if you see any error codes on the mirror screen?

If you still have the same issue after those steps don't hesitate to let us know.

Regards,

Mario.
