Nest dropping temperatures at Night to 67 (cool mode) eventhough it is scheduled to keep at 76

Hi,

I have two nest thermostats (2 HVAC units serving 4 floor house) and I see that one of the thermostats that serves the bottom 2 floors (which is the living room and basement) drops the temperature to 67 (cool mode) at night even though it is scheduled to remain at 76. I have presence sensing on. Any direction to better manage the thermostat would be helpful.

Hi phanivasudev,

Thanks for reaching out to our community.

Nest thermostats have many settings to personalize each user's experience. Let's make sure everything is set up correctly so your thermostat can control your system properly!

Since you mentioned you're using presence sensing, is your eco temperature preset set to 67°F? There might be a possibility that the thermostat on the lower floors is entering eco mode at those hours at night. It would be great if you could also consider whether you have any devices that could be making the thermostat think you're not at home by using Home/Away functionality. While this is less likely since only the lower-floor thermostat is dropping the temperature, I still think it's worth checking.

You can also follow this article about Temperature schedules for the Nest Thermostat and try remaking your schedules with the same settings you need. Once you've done so, monitor your thermostat over the next few days and see if the temperature drops continue at night.

Let me know how it goes.

Regards,

Angel.
