I was forced to upgrade from a Gen1 Nest to a Gen4 this weekend. In doing so, I had to pay $300 and in the process apparently lost a ton of features and would like to know how to get them back.
1) home.nest.com no longer works. The new device will not show up on the website, even through I type in the requested codes on the back of the device; how do I get that working again?
2) In being forced to use the Google Home app on the phone, the schedule feature appears broken. Instead of how it was done under Gen1 where there were was a specific schedule for heat (only showing heat values), a specific schedule for cold (only showing cold values) and a specific schedule for heat/cold (showing both heat and cold values) it now just forces you to set a single schedule that has heat and cold values and is fixed regardless of which mode you are in. Am I missing something or is this how it works now? If so, why make the device LESS usable and force me to mess with it each time I change modes and be forced to reset the schedules every **bleep** time the mode changes. ...I live in the Midwest and I'll flip between Cool, Heat, and Heat/Cool multiple times a week in the Spring/Autumn, hell sometimes within a single day. How do I restore the original functionality of how it was under Gen1?
3) Why am I forced to use the klunky Google Home App without Web support instead of what was done under Nest Gen1? Why has the price gone UP and the features and usability gone DOWN?!

Hi Androclese,
Thank you for posting in the community. I'm sorry for the delayed response. I understand your desire to recover the old feature from the Nest Thermostat 1st Gen to the Nest Thermostat 4 Gen. I'm here to help.
I recognize the value of all the features from previous models, and this situation isn't ideal. We are always looking for improvements. Please share your feedback and experience so it can work on future updates for the Google Home app and Nest Thermostat 4th Gen.
Let me know if you have any further questions.
Regards,
Byron
