Nest learning thermostat Gen 1 to Gen 4

I have had a gen 1 for a long time recently we got a new furnace and they added a second floor and 1st floor zoning deal thingy. Anyway, if I put the wires in the exact same place on the new one everything should work the same?? It would be amazing if they used the same baseplate but I am sure pins and connections have to change.

Thanks, Brad T.

You will need to replace the Gen 1 base with the new 4th Gen base as they are not compatible.

You should be able you just move the wiring from the 1st Gen to the 4th Gen, but I would double-check everything.

so currently the Y1 is Blue, G Green, Rc Red, W1 White & C is yellow. Our new HVAC unit that supports 2 zones, up & down. Up has a typical Honeywell thermostat. There are these damper things that open and close for the 2 zones. The way its wired works good. I can't remember but I think I opened the furnace to look at the way it was wired and matched the Y1, G, ect... as it is on furnace.  I guess ill give it a shot
