Nest learning thermostat app

I recently had a power outage of 4 hrs.  I used to open my app with Face ID and have forgotten my password.  I have tried re-installing the app.My thermostat is still working says network and app connected.  If I try to use forgot password on nest account no email comes to my account.  If I try to use my Google account it wants me to fully reset the profile and I am concerned I will wipe all data from the thermostat.  It heats the house for two elderly vulnerable relatives so I need to take care.  Thank you for any help.

I understand your concern. It sounds like you're locked out of your Nest app due to a forgotten password and a power outage that might have disrupted things further. Here are some steps you can try to regain access without resetting the thermostat and potentially losing data:

Recovering Your Password:

  1. Check Spam Folder: Sometimes password reset emails land in the spam folder. Double-check your spam folder for any emails from Nest after requesting a password reset.

  2. Try Different Email Address: Did you possibly use a different email address when setting up your Nest account? Try requesting a password reset using any other email addresses you might have used.
