Ever since we installed the Nest learning thermostat over a year ago, it has consistently been changing the temperature setting on it's own to an extremely high heat setting in heat mode and then extremely low temps in cool mode. We turned off all auto sensing and eco settings to try to make it stop, but it still does this at random times during day and night. Please help!!!

Hi TH1077,
Thank you for reaching out and we're sorry for the delay.
Were you able to check the temperature schedule? This could be the reason why your thermostat automatically changes the temperature. You could try to delete the schedule and set a new one and observe how it goes for the next couple of days.
Let us know how it goes by replying to this thread.
Best regards,
Ryan

Ryan, thanks for the reply. I purposely set up a schedule for every day, to keep the same temperature, because the thermostat was sporadically increasing the temperature by as much as ############ degrees. I also had disabled the home/away assist last year so I could try to troubleshoot the issue better. The issue was happening for awhile before I had set the schedule. Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again.

Correcting the last reply
The temperature is increasing by as much as ten to twelve degrees.

Hey TH1077,
Thanks for the update and sorry for the late reply.
The temperature increase of 10 to 12 degrees is a big difference. Could you tell us if you already tried to reset your schedule and a complete factory data reset on your thermostat?
Best regards,
Ryan

Hey ryan, thanks for checking up. I am really at a loss for options. I followed all of the suggestions and steps to delete any auto schedules and energy saving settings and it still changes the temp on it's own at least once a day. Sometimes at 10-15 degrees higher on the heat. I am having my regular HVAC technician come out to make sure it is wired properly. If he does say it is wired properly, and this malfunction keeps happening, does google nest have any replacement warranties for units that are malfunctioning?

Hey TH1077,
Thanks for the update.
We'll be glad to assist you on your warranty replacement if the device is faulty and it is within warranty period.
I hope to hear from you soon after a technician checks your system.
Best regards,
Ryan

I am still waiting for the HVAC tech to come out this week as he had to reschedule. The nest thermostat is still increasing temp on its own, at least once a day and its usually in the mornings when we are home and its usually increases from 10-15 degrees but yesterday, it only increased it by 7 degrees. I am going to perform a full factory reset tomorrow and see if that changes anything. i only performed a reset on the schedule and the away options so far, and it has not helped. Thanks for checking in.

Hello no_remorse,
Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your inquiry.
I appreciate all the steps you've taken. You might have had an action created in the Routines settings. If you have the Google Home app, go to Routines and look for the thermostat action, then remove it to clear.
Please take a look at this article and let us know if you need more help.
Regards,
Mark

Hi there,
I'm sorry you have to experience this, and we hope you can have a better time. I really want to get your Nest Thermostat back on track. Checking the Routines in the Google Home app might help us determine why it changes the temperature every night.

Mark

No home routines enabled. Last I heard could be a wiring issue but iif that's the case then why wouldn't this happen since the start of installation vs. 6 my months later and multiple replacements? I'd like to be compensated not only for the thermostat but also for all of the extra money I spent on having this thing crank the AC on. Time to pay up for faulty equipment.

Hello no_remorse,
I'd love to know more about this. Do you have any Support IDs related to your Nest Thermostat replacements? This might help us isolate the random change in temperature every night.

Mark

Yes am still having issues. No routines, I set a specific schedule but nest clearly doesn't care and does whatever it wants. I would like to be compensated for the additional costs this device has incurred on me vs. trying out random things. I'll be replacing this device with a "dumb" device soon
