Nest learning thermostat compatible

I currently have two thermostats. One is for a boiler that is radiant heat. The other works a forced air system that is both heat and air conditioning. Will I be able to control both systems with one nest learning thermostat?

Here is a picture of both. The top one is the forced air system.

Thanks for any help.

Hi there!

Thanks for posting over the community space. While I can't guarantee controlling both your radiant heat and forced air system with a single Nest Learning Thermostat – at least not without some additional considerations.

Here's the thing:

  • Multi-system limitations: Most Nest thermostats, including our popular Learning Thermostat, are optimized for single-stage heating or cooling setups. While your radiant heat (boiler) and forced air system (heating and cooling) are both fantastic for comfort, they require slightly different control methods.
  • Wiring complexity: Nest thermostats rely on specific wiring configurations to work their magic. While it might be possible with extra wires, integrating two separate systems (boiler and forced air) with a single Nest could get a little intricate.

However, there are still some options!

  • Consider two Nests: You could keep your current setup rocking with two separate Nest thermostats, allowing for independent control of each system.
  • Talk to a pro: Our Nest Pro network is a great resource. Consulting a qualified HVAC professional can help you explore if upgrading your current thermostats to a compatible system is feasible.

Ultimately, the best solution depends on your specific setup and needs. Feel free to shoot me any further questions you might have!

Regards,

Brandon.
