Nest thermostat 2n gen welcomed me into new year by freezing on home logo after many years of service. Will not resest. Fully charged. Another post I saw had same issue and support was able to provide a file to load to nest via computer after back and forth with support. I would like to try this rather than throwing it away. Thanks.

I think you can forget about the file from Google, that only happened some years ago, when Nest were a good system.
Have you tried the obvious, press against wall until you see the house, then release? Another is remove the display from the base, and squeeze like a hamburger until the house shows. Do both twice if you have not.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, tried many times but it always get stuck on the house. From searching internet, that file seemed like the only thing that worked for anyone and was my last resort. Too bad, I liked the interface.

You reset I assume as mentioned of the base?
The file you read about was mainly for a glitch, and due to security issues Google certainly will not release anything like that. I have the files you mention, but sadly they will be of no use, as Nest uploaded an upgrade firmware for the 2nd Gen, which made those files useless.

Yes, off the base as well. Tried on the base first then I got red light so I took it off to charge up fully, then tried off the base. Then back on the base to try that again. Doesn't get past the little house. Battery is dead now but will charge and give it last go.
