Recently installed Nest learning thermostat and performed setup on my own. initially didn’t know which O/B setting to set it to so I set the heat pump to O and received no heat. Trouble shooted and set to B and received heat but the thermostat will heat to 85 degrees and not turn off unless manually turn it off. Desired setting for heat is 72.

Hi @Rwest85192002,
It sounds like you've identified the correct O/B setting for your heat pump, but there seems to be an issue with the temperature control on your Nest thermostat. Here's how to troubleshoot the overheating problem:
Nest Thermostat Settings:
Double-Check Temperature Setting: First and foremost, verify that your desired heating temperature is still set to 72 degrees in the Nest app or on the thermostat itself. Sometimes, settings can get accidentally changed.
Verify Mode: Ensure your Nest thermostat is in "Heat" mode. If it's accidentally in "Eco" or another mode, it might not reach the desired temperature.
Schedule Check: Review the Nest app schedule for heating. Delete any unwanted scheduled temperature increases.
Early On Feature: Disable the "Early On" feature in the Nest app settings for heating. This feature preheats your home before reaching your desired time, potentially causing it to overshoot the setpoint.
Advanced Troubleshooting:
Temperature Calibration: Nest thermostats have a temperature calibration feature in the app settings. Try calibrating the temperature sensor to ensure it's reading accurately.
Software Update: Make sure your Nest thermostat has the latest software update installed. Updates often include bug fixes and performance improvements. Updates usually happen automatically, but you can check in the Nest app settings.
