Nest learning thermostat not working

I have a nest learning thermostat that is not reacting to commands all the thermostat, but is on the Wi-Fi. I had an air conditioning technician come by and said the thermostat is defective.

Can you share with us a sample command you're asking for to control your thermostat? What was the HVAC technician's diagnosis? Were there any system issues that he checked and fixed? Also, are you using your phone's Google Assistant or the Google Home devices to give a command?

Hi Mark, the issue I am having is the thermostat would not respond to commands on the wall, however I could command it from my iphone. The theromostat ring would not depress so that I could make adjustments.

Got it. Thanks for clarifying that you can't control it manually. Have you tried any steps so far? If you haven't yet, let's do a hard restart. Please give these steps a try.

1. Press and hold the screen of your thermostat for 10 seconds until it shuts down, then wait for it to turn on.
2. Try navigating it by going to its settings or by pressing the ring.
3. If the same issue persists, pull the thermostat display from its base and wait until the battery discharges.
4. Check that all wires are properly seated in the terminals, put the display back to its base, and ensure that it clicks into place.
