Installed a 3rd gen Nest thermostat today, battery was low and it disconnected from Wi-Fi. I only have a red and white wire, no C wire. Pulled it off the base to charge via usb. Plugged into usb it blinks green, tells me to attach to base, and then shuts down due to low power. While shut down, and still in the usb charger, there are no lights to indicate that it’s charging. Help

Hi Mzuleger,
Thanks for reaching out. A few questions: how long did you charge your Nest Thermostat to a micro USB charger? In what states are you located? Were you able to charge it directly to a power outlet?
Try to press and hold your thermostat display for 10 seconds to restart. If the issue persists, charge it back using a micro USB charger, and if the same message appears, press and hold the back of your thermostat display for 3 seconds until the message disappears. After that, let your thermostat charge for at least an hour before putting it back to its base.
Best,
Jenelyn

Hi Jenelyn,
I charged it for over an hour using a micro USB. Located in Wisconsin. Yes, charged to an outlet directly.
I removed the thermostat entirely, (I removed the base as I had to reinstall my original thermostat to use my furnace), I couldn't put it on the base without it shutting down. When it's charging, there are no lights on the thermostat indicating that it's charging...
Thanks,
Matt
