Nest learning thermostat won't connect to Google Home app

I've tried to reply back via email to markjosephp but the emails get kicked back as address not found.

Nest thermostat won't connect to Google Home app. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app. Restarted the thermostat too. Nest shows the thermostat and its connected via Wi-Fi. Just can't connect to Home.

Those emails come from a no reply email address, so you won't be able to reply to them.

When you install the Nest Learning Thermostat or the Nest Thermostat E in the Nest app, the thermostat should automatically appear in the Google Home app if you’re using the same account in both apps, using the same home structure, and have assigned the thermostat to a room in the Nest app. If any of that isn’t true, you’ll need to go ahead and fix those issues to see if you need to try the steps below at all.

Assuming all of the above is true. try these steps:

  1. Open the Nest app and follow the “Create another home in the Nest app” steps linked below to create a new temporary home structure:
Manage homes and products with the Nest app - Google Nest Help
  2. Open the Google Home app, find and delete the home structure you just created by following the “Delete a home” steps linked below:
Share a home and devices in the Google Home app - Google Nest Help

This forces the two apps to sync and your thermostat should now appear in the Google Home app.

This didn't work. And now the Nest app isn't recognizing the thermostat. I'm about ready to chuck it and go back to a manual one.

Tried as suggested and it did not work. Nest app works fine, but Home app is seriously frustrating.

The home you have in the Nest app, can you see that in the Home app?

When you created the new test home in the Nest app, did it appear in the Home app?

No. The home app gives an error message. Says something went wrong. Try again later.

Nothing appears in the home app. Just spins and gives an error.

Is that just even trying to open it?

Have you tried removing the app, and reinstalling it again from the Play Store?

I've removed both apps and reinstalled them. I've even restarted the thermostat. Nothing is working to fix this issue.

It might be worth closing the apps, removing/signing out of your Google account, then opening the app and signing in with your account again.

Nothing I've tried has worked so far.  All of the recommendations from everyone has already been tried without luck.  The need for two apps to control this one little device is insane.  Whey they aren't talking to each other or the thermostat is a complete mystery to me.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for keeping us in the loop. I'm sorry for the trouble this has caused you. Could you please check if the issue persists as well in the https://goo.gle/2qjvVSU website?

I appreciate your help, @David_K and Zoe.

Jenelyn

YES, it still persists.  I'm about ready to toss this whole thing and get a non-Google product.  You shouldn't need to have two apps to get a thermostat to work, and even with the two apps, it still doesn't work.  All because of a momentary WiFi outage?  It's insane.
