Nest no c wire

Thinking of buying a Nest thermostat with the C wire adapter.

1. I have no wires running to my old thermostat upstairs (air handler in basement). Will these 2 products (thermostat & adapter) solve my issue? 

2. Any idea how long the batteries will last and are the replaceable? 

3. I have a wood stove in the basement and would like to run the air handler fan on its own schedule. Does the nest thermostat have the capability to set a schedule to turn the fan off and on when not in heat/cool mode?

Thanks for reaching out. I'd love to know more about this. Could you share a photo of your current thermostat's wiring and HVAC's system control board? What is your HVAC's make and model?
