Nest not Turning on to heat

Jel8

Can anyone help my please. I just can't seem to get the hang of the settings to keep the house warm. We have had nest for 3yrs (had the link thing replaced already). This morning is -1 outside and the house is cold (not -1 cold but cold). I had to turn the temp to 25°c to get it to turn orange and start heating. How do i get it to react that the house is cold and to heat to a sensible temperature please?

Or

Is there a way I can tell it to turn on for a hour in the morning at 6am then on again later in the day (basically a schedule) like a traditional thermostat?

Any help is much appreciated. I have 2 young children and this morning the 3yr old didn't want to get out of bed and the Baby's hands were so cold.

This sounds a little strange. First thing, where is the thermostat display located? ie hallway, kitchen, lounge etc.? For the heating to activate at 25°c means the room temp is pretty high. Do you have a heater or any other forms of heating running as well? Anything covering the radiators?

There is a schedule in the Nest, look in the app or on a PC to view easier. Click on the temperature in the app, and the schedule is at the bottom

It's in my living room where the old thermostat was. The room definitely wasn't anywhere near 20°c lol

No other heaters and nothing covering the radiators.

I've seen what I think is a schedule but it looks like it's populated from my historical data. How do I set it to what I want?

Hi folks,

@Jel8, oh no! I'm sorry to hear that your Nest Thermostat is not turning on your heat. Let's see what's going on. A few questions:

  1. Are you located in North America or Europe?
  2. What type of Nest Thermostat do you have?
  3. Does the thermostat screen indicate that it’s actively calling for heating?
  4. What type of furnace do you have? (gas, electric, etc.)
  5. When did heating last work?
  6. Did heating ever work with the Nest Thermostat?
If not: Did the heating work with the previous thermostat?
  7. Did you turn off the power to the HVAC system?
    • Did you recently turn off any breakers?
    • Have you recently experienced a brownout or blackout?
    • Is there a light switch near the heater that controls an outlet?
  8. Did you select the correct fuel type?
  9. Do the LED lights blink on the HVAC control board? If yes, locate the light.
  10. When was the last time you changed the furnace's air filter?
  11. Have you experienced extremely cold weather lately?
  12. Is this the first notable temperature drop of the year in the area?

Also, gather the power readouts of your Nest Thermostat's VIN, IIN, and PS-* under Settings > Equipment > Power Info for Nest Thermostat 2020 and Battery, VOC, VIN, and lIN under Settings > Technical Info > Power for Nest Learning Thermostat and Nest Thermostat E.

Keep us posted. We're happy to help.

I appreciate your help, @Frustratedddd

Best,

Zoe

The schedule can be cleared by removing any settings set at present by highlighting the day, then click remove then, remove the incorrect temperature. To alter the setting, that’s in the same location, and then move the temperature or time which ever way like.
