Nest not communicating with furnace

Hi there,
My nest is communicating with ny furnace to turn on my heat when I change the temperature. I have all the wiring correct and I know my hvac system is compatible with nest. It’s weird because occasionally it’ll communicate then the majority of the time it doesn’t, and just blows cold air even if the thermostat is turned up.
