Nest overheats after charging

Nest was recently turned on for the season. It started needing to be charged once a day in order to function for a few hours. All wires connected properly. Furnace repair speculates that it is not connecting properly to the base.

Now it is barely holding a charge and requires heat turned up to 90 degrees plus (in freezing house) to turn on briefly. I now think it is overheating on usb power.

Product is about 5 years old max.  Appreciate the help!

Go to you nest app, then settings for your thermostat (gear wheel top right), equipment in the popup, then wiring. Make sure your Rh and C and W1 are all showing as connected.
