Nest restarting even with c-wire

Have c-wire. Have constant voltage on r wire but nest does the following:

-starts a cool cycle

-condenser relay clicks rapidly a few times

-then fan comes on

-then condenser starts

-condenser runs about 1 1/2 minutes then turns off

-thermostat says starting in 2 minutes

if I connect red and yellow wires without thermostat the condenser will start and run until I disconnect wires. I’ve run the A/C for hours this way.

Hello HjII,

Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your inquiry. I'd be happy to take a look at this for you.

It appears to be a power-related issue you're experiencing. To isolate, please gather your thermostat's power readings in the Technical Info settings or in the Equipment settings depending on the Nest Thermostat version you have. Check if there are any wiring reports in the Equipment settings that could cause a loss of power. If there is, let me know the message code. Then, inspect if the air filter is dirty and needs to be changed. Also, try removing the C wire and activating your system to see if there are any changes.

Note: Turn off the power from your HVAC system at the breaker box before touching the wire.

Keep me posted.

Regards,
Mark
