Nest schedule by motion

Does the 3rd generation thermostat use the motion sensor to determine the schedule or does it learn strictly based on turning the thermostat up and down?

My system is 2 zones, Nest 3rd Gen on both. This question is for the basement (second) thermostat as we are not down there much during the day, but family time, weekends nights we are.

Just wondering if I need to fiddle with it for the next few days or if it will just know when Were in that area of the house?

Thnx

Hey abreuray86,

Thanks for reaching out.

Our 3rd generation Nest Learning Thermostat learns from learn your daily routine and automatically create a temperature schedule for you if learning is enabled. The Nest Protect however, can be used to contribute to the Home & Away behavior of your thermostat. To learn more about this specific feature, check this out: https://bit.ly/2RaFUrf

Learning is enabled - but it did not set any schedule - my question is, will the thermostat learn by motion, rather than turning it up and down? Does the motion sensing do that or does it just light up when you walk by?
