I recently purchased and install a new Nest 4th gen. It was purchased a month ago, and installed 2 weeks ago.
The learning sensor simply does not work, but not sure if I am doing anything wrong. I have deleted and paired it twice.
It seems to get the initial temp and then never updates. When I set it up the 2nd time, bit got a temp of 65F, it still shows that even though I have moved it colder and hotter rooms. I even put it in the refrigerator to cool it down! No change in the 65F temp it shows in the ios home app.
One I may do differently, is after i pair it, I tell my Nest thermostat not to use it for temperature. I only want to use this sensor to monitor, I do not want the Nest to learn from it, so I uncheck the box to associate it with an HVAC.
What should i do now?

Hi Jeffreyj,
Thanks for reaching out. I understand that your Nest sensor is not updating the detected temperature, and I'm happy to assist you!
I recommend checking if your Google Nest Thermostat 4th Gen has any pending updates. To do so, follow these steps:
When you view your Nest sensor in the Google Home app, does it say "Connected" or display any errors or codes? If so, please let me know what it says.
I look forward to your response.

Manuel

Hi. There are no updates. It says connected. The sensor just does not seem to track the temperature in the room properly, it never changes. I will try again to completely remove the sensor again.
A question I had, the sensor should still work even though I disable the Nest from using it to learn and set the temperature right? Becuase after I connect it to the Nest, I uncheck the setting to allow the Nest to use. I simply want the sensor to track the temperature, I do not want the Nest to use it in its temperature settings.

Hi Jeffreyj,
Thanks for your reply. Regarding your question about whether enabling the feature to learn will affect the function of the Nest sensor, the answer is no. The Nest sensor can work fine.
Could you please send me a screenshot of how your Nest sensor appears on the Google Home app?
I will be awaiting your response.

Manuel
