Hi there - we had a new boiler and Nest thermostat installed earlier in the year but the heating hasn't really needed to be on until the colder weather of the last week. The thermostat shows orange and that it is heating but the radiators are not coming on. The set temperature constantly shows it will be reached in 2+ hours (probably because no heat is being produced). The Nest also controls the water which is set on a schedule, bizarrely, when the water comes on and the boiler fires up, the heating also comes on but goes off again when the water is at the right temperature. I have checked and the heating is on automatic not manual. We did have a 30 min+ power cut on Sunday but that coincided with the drop in temperature so I don't know if the heating was playing up beforehand or not. Can anyone help as our plumber can't come out until the middle of next week and we're getting cold ⛄. Thanks.

I may have sorted this out after some more googling 🤞 I reset the heat link and now the boiler has fired up. Will see what happens over the day and if the heating stays on till temperature is reached and if it then comes back on as required. Thought it would be useful in case anyone else has this issue!

I have the exact same issue issue have been searching what to do - our boiler and nest were installed in August and this is the first time I need the heating on. Not impressed with nest so far, my old Hive was much easier to use! Will try resetting now as you've suggested, fingers crossed it works. Thank you!

Oh, maybe it is a "thing" then! The reset worked in that the heating and radiators came on and the house came up to temperature. However, when the temperature dropped the Nest said the heating was on but the radiators didn't come back on again until the water came back on as before. I will see what tomorrow brings and at least I know how to reset the heat link and get the boiler to fire up but this isn't a solution if I have to keep doing it everytime the temperature drops! Good luck for your reset and fingers crossed it works better for you.

Test by crossing the red and white wires, if the heat comes up something is wrong with the nest. details are in this 3 year old post, on Reddit

Sadly not - I have to reset the heat link every morning after the water goes off and frequently throughout the day when it needs to come back up to temperature. Sometimes I can reset the heat link several times before everything fires up again. I have our plumber coming back to look at it but not until 7th Dec 🙄

Oh no. Let's check if the thermostat and Heat Link are working properly. Go next to the Heat Link and turn on your heating and then turn it off. You should hear a click sound coming from the Heat Link each time you do that. Let me know how it goes.
