Hi Diyms,
Thanks for posting in our community.
Figuring out what’s the best way to wire your Nest thermostat to your system can be complicated at times; I’m here to help!
What type of HVAC system do you have? Is it able to provide both heating and cooling? Since you’ve told me your wires are labeled 1, 2, R, and C, it indicates that you might have a proprietary system.
Proprietary systems aren’t compatible with Nest thermostats, as Nest thermostats use standard heating system wires. Proprietary wiring only works with thermostats made by the same manufacturer.
Some systems can be rewired in order to be compatible with a Nest thermostat; if you want to check if that’s possible for your system, I’d recommend checking out this article to get installation help or HVAC service from a professional.
Let me know how it goes.
Regards,
Angel.
