Nest thermostat and Google Home app

I've been having an issue with the Nest thermostat going into ECO mode when I was home.  I can fix that manually by telling Google Home I'm actually at home or by standing in front of the thermostat.

So, yesterday I discovered that for some reason the Nest app no long had my phone listed for presence sensing.  Fixed that in Nest.  Stopped having issue with it going into ECO while I was at home.

So, today I left the house for several hours and the thermostat stayed on.  The Nest app did correctly show the times I left and came back.  Google Home caught the first time I left and came home, but not the second time.

Discovered that the home app was not using my phone to determine whether I was home.  It said I was using a different phone.  So, I fixed that by switching to my phone

Then I immediately went into the Nest app, it had removed my phone from presence sensing.  Fixed that.

When I went back and checked the Google Home app, it had again removed my phone from the location sensing in that app because it said I was using a different phone.

Are these apps incompatible?

Hi cfelrod,

Thanks for posting in the Community! Sorry to hear that you're having trouble with the Nest and Google Home apps not syncing. Both apps should work together seamlessly once you've migrated your Nest account to a Google account. Let's try some troubleshooting steps that might help resolve this issue:

  1. Restart your Nest Thermostat.
  2. Check phone permissions: Ensure that both apps have the necessary permissions, especially location access. If you're using presence sensing, you may want to disable location for one app to avoid conflicts.
  3. Verify home structure ownership: Make sure your phone is the primary account controlling your Nest Thermostat. Remove any other phones from the home structure if necessary.

Let me know how it goes.

Regards,
Axel.
