Temp randomly sets to 19 and fan blows cold air even if I increase the desired temp.  What is happening?

Hi Dcorms,

Thank you for posting in the community.

I appreciate you asking what's going on with your Nest thermostat (2020), which keeps setting to 19 degrees at random and blowing chilly air even when you raise the temperature to the intended setting. Don’t worry, help is here.

Before I start further troubleshooting, let me ask you a few questions:

  • When did the issue start?
  • What type of HVAC system do you have?
  • When was the last maintenance check for your HVAC system?
  • Has there been any recent changes or upgrades to your HVAC system?
  • Is your Google Home app updated?
  • Is your system making strange noises (chattering, stuttering, clicking or thumping, etc.)?
  • Is the heating or cooling always on and won’t turn off?
  • Is the heating or cooling repeatedly turning on and off in a short period?
  • Do you see a delay or start message on your Nest thermostat’s screen (for example, “Heating is delayed for 2:30 mins”)?
  • Does the system fan turn on and off repeatedly in a short period?
  • Do you have a common ground wire or C wire?
  • Are you familiar with the C wire?
  • Have you experienced any power outages within the last few days or weeks?
  • Have you seen any error code or message on your Nest thermostat (2020)?
  • Have you checked in your Google Home app if there's a schedule set for that temperature?

Please keep me posted.

Best regards,

Virna
