Nest thermostat disliked by HVAC professionals

Why do HVAC professionals dislike Nest learning thermostats?

Apparently they have caused zone panel damage and equipment damage.
Has anyone experienced these issues?

I have been using Nest learning thermostats and haven't had any issues so far.

While I haven't personally seen a lot of reports of issues with the Nest Learning Thermostats from professionals, reports are often hard to verify or quantify. I can say that we do have multiple HVAC professionals here that participate in the community forums and many of them happily recommend the Nest Thermostats to their customers and the public as a whole. While some HVAC systems might be a better fit for a Nest Thermostat than others, a simple compatibility check in our help center usually matches the right thermostat to the right user.

It's always hard to know, mahi70, but definitely compatibility is the first thing to check before buying.
