Nest thermostat gen3

Rommich27

So, I have just installed the nest learning thermostat and it's all good apart from the charging issue.

Now, the thermostat has a rechargable battery, and it is fully charged (I left it plugged in overnight too).

The problem is that, once is fitted in to it's base, it doesn't work. This because it "wants" to be plugged in all the time.

What is the point of having the battery in the first place?

The thermostat is connected wirelessly to the heat link.

Any ways of overcoming this? Or do I have to get rid of it 😞

Hi there @Rommich27,

Thanks for reaching out. The Nest Thermostats have a rechargeable battery for emergency cases only. For normal functionality the thermostat needs to stay on its base connected to power all the time. It cannot control the Heat Link without the base no matter what you're trying. You can learn more from our online support articles here: https://bit.ly/3DWBMiN

Let me know if you need more help.
