Nest thermostat heat stage 2 does not heat

It's been working fine for years. Now the heating stops and the dial reads heat stage 2, but I have no stage 2 system. Why would this start happening, and how can I fix it?

Hey there,

Sorry to hear about the trouble. I wanted to follow up and see if I could be of any help. There is a chance you may need to reconfigure your wire setup. You can do that by following the steps here.

  1. Go to Settings and then Factory Reset .
  2. Begin thermostat setup with the Home app again. On the main screen, tap Add Add and then Set up a Nest product.
  3. Re-enter all the wires connected to your thermostat. Double check your account for any unconfigured wires.

HVAC guy checked the Nest - all o.k., but wired as if I had a stage 2, which I don't. Furnace regulator failed, new one ordered. Hope it fixes the problem (fingers crossed).
