I moved into my home 2 1/2 years ago and this Nest thermostat was already here. I don’t know what model it is but it has been working fine until recently. It now displays constant orange, as if it’s calling for heat, but the furnace seems to kick in at random…it definitely isn’t heating according to the display. This is new. Usually the Nest display is black or unlit until it needs to call for heat. The temp now seems to drop a lot before heat will kick in.
I have disconnected from the app, reset the Nest, reconnected to WiFi, reconnected to the app…and nothing changed. I just want to fix this or even go back to an old school thermostat, before I have no heat and it’s -30 Celsius outside.
Thanks!

Hi Madre_Jenn,
Thank you for reaching out to the community. I apologize that you're experiencing troubles with your Nest Thermostat that is constantly orange and trying to call for heat. I understand how frustrating this can be. Let's work together to find a solution.
For further assistance, I need to ask a few questions:
What type of Nest Thermostat do you have? (Please check the following reference for the type of Nest thermostat you have.)
Does the thermostat screen indicate that it’s actively calling for heating?
What type of furnace do you have? (gas, electric, etc.)
When did the heating last work?
Did you turn the HVAC system off?
Did you recently turn off any breakers?
Have you recently experienced a brownout or blackout?
Is there a light switch near the heater that controls an outlet?
Did you select the correct fuel type?
Do the LED lights blink on the HVAC control board?
Have you experienced extremely cold weather lately?
Please keep me posted. I'll look forward to your response.
Regards,
Byron
