Not able to see the heating icon

My app and my thermostat is not showing the heating icon we’re supposed to be having a winter storm so I need to get this issue in

Thanks for reaching out here in the community! I'm sorry to hear that your Nest thermostat and the app aren't able to show the heating icon. I understand how important it is for you to get comfortable, especially during the winter storm. Help's here!

Regularly, the heating and cooling system icon may not appear if the thermostat cannot detect one of its wires. To better assist you, I'd like to ask the following: 

• What is the model of your Nest thermostat? Here’s a helpful article about how to identify your thermostat model.
• Would you mind sharing a picture of your wiring installation on the Nest thermostat?

In the meantime, I'd suggest the following steps:

• Ensure the wires are fully inserted into the terminal and the connector buttons are securely pushed down. This guarantees proper wire connections. Important: Before touching any wires, turn off the power to your HVAC system at the breaker box.
• Check if the thermostat is recognizing the heat (W or W1) by going to Settings > Equipment in the thermostat's settings. There, you can see which wires are recognized by the thermostat. For reference, you can check out this article depending on your thermostat model: Nest thermostat settings.
