Hello all. I am having trouble with power on my nest thermostat. I had tried the nest power connector at first. I still received a warning of low or no power and it killed the batteries in just over a week. It wouldn’t measure over 20v even when hooked up with the 24vac connection post on the furnace. Yesterday I decided to run a 3 wire tstat wire, with a dedicated C wire, to see if that would fix the problem. The nest still has an equipment error. Now when calling for heat, as soon as the furnace kicks on, the nest says “no power” and reboots. Which turns the heat back off.

Hello Bgray1,
Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your inquiry. I'd be happy to take a look at this for you.
Could you please share with us a photo of how you installed your Nest Power Connector and your thermostat's wiring? Please gather the power readouts on your thermostat's equipment settings. Also, make sure that your thermostat's software is up-to-date.
Thanks,
Mark

Hello. I am looking over the thermostat wiring. I double checked all of my connections. They are correct. I appear to have a voltage drop of about 4 volts from my power connector. My 24v connection on the furnace is reading about 26v and the red wire that leads to the thermostat is only reading 22v at most. The nest only shows 19v to 22v on the display. I attempted to upload photos but I’m not sure how on my phone.

I did just notice that when the heat is turned on, the thermostat reads 26v. When the heat demand is turned off, the power level returns to 22v

Any thoughts on this? I am still having power warnings.

Hello there,
Thanks for assisting, Jenelyn.
I'm sorry for the late reply, @Bgray1. I know it has been a while, but I wanted to ensure that everything was covered here.
Could you try moving the wire from the 24V to the common terminal on your control board, as shown in the picture you posted with your Nest Power Connector? Please turn off the power to your HVAC system at the breaker box before making changes. Also, restart your thermostat to refresh.
Let us know how it goes.
Regards,
Mark

Hi Mark. I did try connecting to the common post already. When connected, the nest was showing 0 volts. And gave a warning of power failure

Hello Bgray1,
Thanks for keeping us posted. Please try resetting your thermostat to default. This will clear all the configured programs that was set and proceed by adding them again to the Google Home app.
Please let me know if that helps or if the issue still persists.
Regards,
Mark

Hi Mark. I just reset the nest to factory default and attempted to connect to my Google home app again. I am running into the same problem. I told the setup assistant that I installed a power connector when it asked what wires I have. When it got to the power test step, it is still saying low power. And suggesting connecting a nest power connector

Hi everyone,
I wanted to stop by and see how I could help.
@Bgray1, a few questions: How many Nest Thermostats do you have? And, did you connect the Nest Power Connector to the right zoning system?
I'll look forward to your response.
Thanks for the help here, Mark and Jenelyn.
Best,
Zoe
