Check if the air filter needs replacing and ensure the thermostat is set to cool mode.

Hi Ashleigh,

Sorry to hear the situation that you are experiencing with your new Nest thermostat not reaching the desired temperature, i know it could be frustrating, help is here!

To better understand the situation, I'd like to ask a few questions:

  • What type of Nest thermostat do you have?
  • Are there any error messages? If so, what are they exactly?
  • Is this a new installation?
  • When was the last maintenance check for your HVAC system?
  • Has there been any recent changes or upgrades to your HVAC system?
  • Does the inconvenience happen on heating only, cooling only, or both?

In the meantime, let's check a few things:

  • Check the Energy History: If you experience unusual mode changes with your Nest thermostat, it might be useful to check the thermostat’s Energy History for more information about the thermostat's previous-day activity.
  • Make sure the thermostat wires are completely inserted into the terminals: Before checking the wires, turn off the power to your HVAC system at the breaker box. Verify that the wires are securely connected to the terminals on your Nest thermostat.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Best regards,

Chris
