Nest thermostat not fully set up

I have installed a new nest thermostat. At the end of the installation it says the thermostat is connected and ready. But every time I try to open it in google home app it says it is not fully installed and needs to be reinstalled.   I’ve done this 5 times now.  What is the problem?

I guess it took asking the question.  It finally connected after 1 1/2 hours.   This should be documented somewhere
