Nest thermostat not working

My nest thermostat has stopped working now for the 2nd time. It keeps telling me that the wires are not connected, but everywhere is connected. My battery level is fine and we do not have either system hooked up to wifi because we live in thw middle of nowhere and do not recieve good signal so I do not want that draining our battery. I don't want to keep paying for a service call. What should I do?
