Not being able to control your thermostat due to a power error can certainly be frustrating, but don't worry; let's get it figured out.
This error indicates that your Nest thermostat isn't able to detect any power from the R wire in your system. So, I want to know which type of HVAC system you have.
I suggest first double-checking if the breakers that power up your equipment are on. These breakers could have flipped off due to blackouts or servicing your system.
On that note, it would be great if you could let me know when you last changed the air filter. A clogged air filter can limit airflow over the cooling coils, which can cause them to freeze and trip the breakers.
