Hi Adamva,

Thanks for your post here in the community. I understand how frustrating it can be when your Nest Thermostat gives inaccurate temperature readings, especially a significant difference of 6-8 degrees, which then causes your HVAC system to run continuously. This must be concerning given your past experiences with other Google Nest products. But don't worry, help's here!

To better understand the situation, I'd like to ask a few questions:

  • What is the specific model of thermostat you have? Here’s a helpful article about how to identify your thermostat model.
  • When was the thermostat installed?
  • Where is the thermostat located (room and wall or stand)?
  • Do you have other active Nest Thermostats? If so, are they experiencing the same inconvenience?
  • What type of HVAC system do you have?
  • Have you made any recent adjustments to your HVAC system?
  • Could you please specify the country where the thermostat is being used?

Keep me posted.

Regards,

Melany

Hi Adamva,

Thanks for the follow-up information. To assist you more effectively, I'd like to ask a few more questions:

  • Is the problem continuous or under specific circumstances?
  • Have there been any recent changes to the HVAC system?
  • Have there been any recent power outages?
  • Have you created a schedule on your thermostat?
  • Would you mind sharing a picture of your wiring installation and your Nest Thermostat?
  • Do you have a thermometer? If so, please take a photo of the thermometer next to the Nest Thermostat. Both the thermometer and thermostat screens should be visible in the photo and show the difference in each other’s readouts.
  • Do you have a Nest Temperature Sensor? If so, is it working properly?

In the meantime, we require your thermostat's current signal strength. Please find this information by following these steps on your device: Go to Settings > Technical Info > Network > Signal strength.

Keep me posted.

Regards,

Melany
