thermostat compatibility

My existing thermostat (Napoleon model # 1E78), is powered by two AAA batteries, controls my Napoleon natural gas fireplace. For this existing thermostat, a small diameter, solid copper, black insulated wire is connected to the RC terminal and a small diameter, solid copper, white insulated wire is connected to the W terminal. There are no other wires connected back to the fireplace. Will this wiring support the use of a third generation NEST Learning Thermostat?

Based on the wires you provided, your system appears to be compatible with the Nest Learning Thermostat (3rd gen). However, to be completely sure, please share a picture of your current wiring configuration, specifically showing a clear view of the wires at the thermostat terminals.
