Nest thermostat says it is heating, when it isn’t.

Starting a new topic with an identical one from before.

Hey Google, how about fix problems instead of closing out an old thread you did nothing to fix.

Would be lovely to see a company worth trillions actually care about its products working.

So would love an answer here that isn't regurgitated "have you turned heat off and on again"

yeah. So how about fix the **bleep** problem

@idontcaresheesh, how about telling more about your specific Google Nest Thermostat you have and the particulars that led up to this problem presenting itself.
How long has your Nest Thermostat been installed and working fine?

Have you verified that the Fan and the Cooling mode still functions properly?

Have you verified the the call for heating is arriving at the IFC of the furnace?

Have you verified the output voltage and current coming from the IFC?

It was in the house before purchasing it.
Yes - fan and cool turn on correctly.

If I turn it to cold and back to heat it will turn on. It stops at some point, however, as it was heating when I went to bed, but when I woke up, it wasn't.

Also worth calling out changing the temperature doesn't fix it.

It was set on heat to 67, but turning it up to 72 didn't do anything.

I am not able to verify any of the voltage

Hi, @idontcaresheesh!

Thank you so much for reaching out to the community. I'm truly sorry the heating system is not working. I know how important a reliable heating system is, especially in cold weather. I'm happy to help you!

I really appreciate the detailed information you shared. To troubleshoot effectively, please provide the following information:

  • What type of thermostat do you have?
  • Is the Nest thermostat newly installed?
  • When did the heating last work?
  • When was the last time you changed the furnace's air filter?
  • Have you experienced extremely cold weather lately?
  • Is it displaying any error code?
  • Do you have a conventional or heat pump system?
    • Conventional System: Typically consists of two pieces of equipment (furnace and AC).
    • Heat Pump: Handles both heating and cooling with a single unit.

Also, please confirm that the wires are securely attached to the terminals. Ensure at least ¼ to ½ inch of the copper wire is exposed, straightened, and fully inserted into each terminal. If necessary, strip and reinsert the wires.

Please let me know how it goes.

Best regards.

Ana

@idontcaresheesh ,

If you are not confident about checking HVAC voltage you should contact a Nest Pro to come check out your system.
1. Verify the Nest Thermostat is making a call for heat.
2. If the call for heat is made by the thermostat and the system does not initiate the heating cycle verify the Heating Start Up sequence and determine which element of the safety system is blocking the startup.
