Nest thermostat shutting down

I just installed a refurbished Nest Learning Thermostat on the wall and switched on the circuit breaker- but now the screen says “thermostat shutting down” and attempts to restart after a couple minutes with no luck.  What’s happening?!

Double check wiring but seems like an issue with circuit. Could be shutting down because safety issue or defect. If thermostat is refurbished and still under warranty or return period contact seller for exchange. Hope that helps.

Hello folks,

Chiming in to see how I could help.

Thanks for the assistance, @TampaTec.

@Gverlee, It appears that your Nest thermostat is not getting any power. Let's sort this out.

  • Check that all of your thermostat's wires are securely seated in their terminals (no loose or exposed wires).
  • Double check and make sure the power breakers are on.
  • It might be the battery is drained and won't hold its charge. Try charging the display via micro USB for at least an hour.

Have a look at this article and let us know if you need more help.

Best regards,

Mark
