Nest thermostat temperature issue

MinogueC88
Community Member

We have been setting our nest at 71, it has been about 76 degrees in our home, however the nest states the current temp is 70. Therefore, the AC is barely coming on, I’ve tried resetting it, and the same thing keeps going on.

Hi, thank you for responding, it is still doing the same, we’ve tested all pieces, and air comes out, however it states the room is at a certain temperature, and it is not. Therefore, the ac doesn’t come on.

Hey MinogueC88,

Sorry to hear the issue is still present. I would be more than happy to help you out, and ensure everything is working properly. Since you have, already, tried resetting the device, could you try following some of these steps below to see if that helps?

  1. Make sure that Sunblock is ON. Sunblock will need a couple of days to learn about sunlight in the room; then it will start taking direct sunlight into account when it decides the temperature in the room. Go to Settings > Nest Sense > Sunblock.
  2. Check for nearby sources of heat.

    - Air vents that direct warm air across the thermostat

    - Electrical outlets

    - Appliances - including large televisions

    - Plumbing (hot water pipes in old buildings are frequently uninsulated!)

    - Other potential heat sources

    - Warm air in the wall behind the thermostat

  3. Check the thermostat’s network connection.

Some wireless access points cause the Nest Thermostat’s Wi-Fi chip to overheat, which affects the thermostat’s detected ambient temperature. Leave the thermostat disconnected from the network for 24 hours and monitor the ambient temperature.  If the temperature returns to normal when disconnected, we'll know that the heat is caused by the Wi-Fi access point.

Please let me know if any of that helps isolate the issue.

Best regards,

Jake
