Nest thermostat time to cool is long

Laksh
Community Member

hi, I've had the nest for over a year and it's been working fine. Recently I've noticed the air pushed isn't as cold as it once was and the time to target time is long. For example it says 20min to target temp. But it takes almost an hour to get to that point. I have all normal wires including a C wire and I change my filters frequently. I have the black thermostat and not the E.

Hi Laksh,

Thanks for reaching out to us, and I'm sorry to hear about the situation. A few questions:

  1. Did you try using the Help Center or troubleshooter before contacting support? If so, which steps have you tried already?
  2. When did cooling last work?
  3. What type of system do you have? (Heat Pump or Conventional Type)
  4. Did you turn off the power to your HVAC system?
    • Are the breakers turned on?
    • Did you recently experience a brownout or blackout?
    • Did you have any construction or maintenance work done on your home?
  5. Do you see any messages or codes on your thermostat or on the app?
  6. Does your thermostat have a set of schedules that are followed for the whole week?

Also, collect the power readings from Settings > Technical Info > Power (Battery, VOC, VIN, lIN).

I'll look forward to your response.

Best,

Zoe

Hello everyone,

Thanks for looking into this, Zoe.

@Laksh, it appears to be a power-related concern within your system. In addition to the questions above, do you also experience this with the heating? Try restarting your thermostat to refresh and activate the system again, then let us know more about it so we can move forward.

Regards,
Mark
